Upon arrival at the Srinagar airport, you will be met and assisted by our team before transferring to the Houseboat.
Srinagar is located in the heart of the Kashmir Valley at an altitude of 1,730 meters above sea level, spread across both sides of the Jhelum River. The Dal and Nigeen lakes enhance its picturesque setting, while the changing seasons and salubrious climate ensure the city remains attractive to visitors year-round. Its waterways—with their own quaint lifestyle—unique houseboats, blossoming gardens, water sports, handcrafted souvenirs, and nearby resorts make Srinagar a cherished venue for those seeking a soul-stirring holiday.
The rest of the day is at leisure for your independent activities.
Overnight
At 09:00 AM, we will proceed with a sightseeing tour of the world-famous Mughal Gardens, visiting Nishat Bagh (The Garden of Pleasure) and Shalimar Bagh (The Abode of Love). Laid out by Emperor Jahangir for his queen, Nur Jahan, Shalimar Bagh is divided into four terraces and features a central water channel running down its middle. On the topmost terrace sits the pavilion reserved for royal visitors. Supported by stunning black marble pillars, the pavilion features tiny niches that were once used to hold fragrant flowers.
We will also visit the historic Jamia Masjid, built in 1674. The mosque features thick wooden pillars, each crafted from an entire deodar tree. As one of the oldest mosques in Kashmir, its foundation is said to have been laid as far back as 1398 by Sultan Sikandar. To the southeast lies the Roza Bal shrine, uniquely known in certain esoteric traditions as the “tomb of Jesus.” Across the Jhelum River lies the Pathar Masjid (also known as Shahi Masjid), built in 1623 for Empress Nur Jahan.
The Shankaracharya Temple (a Shiva temple) sitting atop a hill is equally fascinating, offering a panoramic view of the entire city of Srinagar and its beautiful lakes.
Next, we will drive to the older parts of Srinagar for a revealing walking tour through the decorated, narrow bazaars. Many Hollywood and Bollywood films have shot scenes here, particularly around the historic wooden bridges.
As part of exploring the traditional crafts of Kashmir, this walk through the narrow alleyways of old Srinagar opens a window into the lives and skills of master craftsmen and weavers, whose creations are just as enticing as Kashmir’s apple orchards and snow-clad mountains. Scattered across the old town are small, cozy workshops where artisans create exquisite artwork from wood, fabric, and metal. Notably, UNESCO has listed Srinagar as part of its Creative Cities Network. The walk includes visiting artisans specializing in papier-mâché, woodcarving, pottery, silverware, copperware, Namda embroidery, Pashmina, and silk carpets.
In the afternoon, we will enjoy a Shikara ride on Dal Lake to soak in the beauty of a city often compared to Venice, yet possessing its own distinct character. You will get a close-up view of the unique lifestyle thriving on the lake, including floating villages, vibrant markets, and water farms. Just like on land, the lake features well-understood, undefined water channels. During the boat ride, we will also visit an interesting papier-mâché factory to witness the production of these authentic Persian-inspired crafts. Late in the afternoon, you will return to your houseboat.

We will pass through beautiful saffron fields and make stops at the sulfur springs of Anantnag, as well as the Mattan Temple (Surya Mandir), where you can see thousands of holy fish in the freshwater spring.
Upon arrival in Pahalgam, we will check in to the
In the afternoon, we will visit Aru Valley. This stunning grassland is bordered by a ravine on one side and serves as a serene, shaded valley for the Lidder River. Encircling and protecting Aru are conifer-covered mountains with occasional flashes of high, snow-covered peaks rising against the blue sky. This is one of the most beautiful, still, and idyllic hill resorts in Kashmir. Here, you will see small hamlets of wood-and-stone houses, some built in the typical Gujjar-shepherd style with flat roofs resting against the hillside.
Following Aru, we will proceed to the Betaab Valley, named after the famous Indian movie Betaab which shot its iconic scenes here. On the way back to Pahalgam, we will pass Hajan, another idyllic, picturesque spot popular as a film location and perfect for a picnic.
Overnight
After a leisurely breakfast, we will go on a pony ride to the meadows of Baisaran. This is a truly unique sight; after climbing several mountain trails, you will suddenly emerge into a lush, expansive meadow. These rolling green fields are fringed by towering pine trees in the foreground, with snow-capped mountains forming an incredible backdrop. The view is breathtakingly spiritual.

Start Your Journey
Tell us your dream — we’ll craft an India journey that exceeds it. Every trip begins with a simple conversation.
India is not one single experience. Every state has its own language, traditions, food, architecture, and pace of life. Arriving here can feel like stepping into a beautiful, vibrant whirlwind that can feel exciting, overwhelming, and unforgettable all at once, especially if it’s your first visit.
At Idyllic India Tours, we help you experience India in a way that feels comfortable, personal, and deeply authentic.
We design journeys that go beyond sightseeing. Instead of rushing from one monument to another, we believe in slowing down and truly connecting with a place like sharing conversations over chai, learning from local artisans, wandering through old markets, and staying in heritage homes that carry stories of their own.
For our solo female travellers especially, comfort and safety are something we take seriously. Every route, driver, guide, and stay is carefully chosen by our team to ensure you feel supported and at ease throughout your journey. Our journeys go beyond hotels and itineraries, giving you a deeper connection to the people, traditions, and spirit of each state. Whether you’re exploring the royal cities of Rajasthan, attending ancient ceremonies in Varanasi, or discovering the backwaters and family kitchens of Kerala, you’ll always have a professional and respectful local team looking out for you.
We believe the best stories aren’t found through a bus window, but in the people you meet, the conversations you share, and the moments you never planned for.
That is the heart of how we travel.
Choosing a travel partner is about more than planning an itinerary — it’s about finding people you can trust to guide your experience.
